From blah to stunning, a kitchen gets a makeover

A kitchen should be the centre of your home. We spend so much time there it needs to work on many levels. Function is so important and so is the look. If your kitchen has a good layout and the cabinets are sound, then maybe all it needs is updating with a great paint job, some new tiles and a little tweaking here and there.

This Ikea kitchen in a fabulous York apartment overlooking the river, has marble and butcher block counters and yet both were virtually unnoticeable. I worked with Spice Interior Design to update this kitchen. We painted it a fabulous teal colour, tiled the splashback and added aluminium kick plates to the Island.  Moving the microwave from a high, inaccessible location we then had a carpenter make a new door for the space above the oven. LED under cabinet lighting added great functionality to the back counters. Now the marble and butcherblock counters stand out, as they should.

Sleek, beautiful and modern as befits this City centre apartment.
